Jerome Facione Sr. and Dr. Josh Luke were high school friends and basketball teammates that came together 30 years after graduation united in advocating to end systematic racism and and promote human equality.
Mr. Facione was adopted at two weeks old by white parents and raised in a mixed-race home. In college he was part of a large-scale racial incident in which a professor was fired, and the area created its first NAACP chapter. He then dedicated his career to teaching, including an African American history class at his private high school in which more than 50% of the students are routinely not African American.
Dr. Josh Luke is a former hospital CEO, faculty member at the University of Southern California as well as author, social media influencer, YouTube channel host, podcaster and public speaker. He was moved by several of the social media posts his high school friend Jerome shared in June 2020 pertaining to the lack of outrage and advocacy from non-African Americans in speaking out against systematic racism.
